Product Design: The Microchip Sticker
When ReboundTAG made their microchip luggage tag semi transparent, so people could see the microchips inside, it substantially increased both sales and popularity with customers. Following this, we worked with engineers at the microchip companies we partner with so that we could do the same thing with the microchip sticker – designed to go on people’s laptops, tablets and other personal items, it means your possessions can be identified anywhere in the world while your details remain secure.
The Design Process
As with all the products we work on, we focussed on combining ideal functionality with an aesthetic product that people will love. Additionally, we had to ensure that the microchip sticker would look good with a company’s logo printed on it. There are some key pieces of information that need to be on the tag so that it can be used anywhere in the world. One of the ideas we decided to eliminate was having multiple languages, or perhaps just English and Mandarin, so that we can keep the design as simple as possible 1) tag ID 2) instructions 3) brand identity.
