New Microchip Patent Granted

A patent was recently granted for Max Rangeley and David Mapleston, a physicist and microchip engineer with whom Max has worked for more than ten years on various projects. The patent allows for a radical new type of microchip system where ultra high frequency RFID NFC hybrid microchips can be programmed using a mobile phone. Up till now, UHF RFID chips have needed to be programmed with a microchip reader – something that not many people have! With this patent, someone could, for instance, program a microchip luggage tag or microchip identification using their mobile phone, which could then be read in the airport using a longer range microchip reader, from up to ten metres away.
