Economic Analysis

We can provide an outline of the economic situation for any countries or regions you would like to move into. We generally use a blended approach of our own analysts and working with our local partners. We tend to avoid formal differentiations between “macro” and other forms of analysis, but rather take the approach that one cannot fully understand the “macro” elements without first understanding the micro-foundations. Below is a speech Max in the European Parliament going through the negative consequences of central bank policies in Europe and around the world.

 

Max has written a number of books, including a book co-authored with a British member of Parliament and more recently a book written with several senior central bankers which was published by Springer Nature.

Speech in the European Parliament on Central Banking and the Economy

Max gave the following speech in the European Parliament, discussing how central bank policies since the 2008 crisis have made the economy worse.

Lecture at HEC Paris Business School on Central Banking and Business Cycles

In the following lecture, which was part of a longer lecture on the future of money, Max shows evidence of how central bank policies in recent years have negatively impacted bond markets, housing, stock markets and productivity. Much of the data for this lecture is presented in full in the two books he has written on the subject, most recently “The Age of Debt Bubbles” published by Springer Nature. HEC is currently ranked as the best business school in Europe by the Financial Times.
